In today's marketplace for building materials,
the name Hormann has become synonymous with residential and
industrial doors and operators; because here the Hormann Group
is Europe's largest
supplier.
This has been achieved through the constant growth over decades
of a family business that spans four generations against a
backdrop of innovation, quality assurance and close proximity to
customers.
In his metalworking shop in Bielefeld, August Hormann (1886 - 1944), also produces steel doors. Following the war, his son, Hermann (1912 - 1994), re-establishes his father's business in Steinhagen virtually from scratch.
In the 50s he gives his company the all-decisive
impetus for growth by producing an entirely new kind of
one-piece garage door, the so-called "Berry Door", named after
its American inventor.
Since April 2002, sectional garage doors and operators are
marketed by the production and sales facility south of
Knoxville, Tennessee.

Patented Hormann finger trap protection inside and outside (patent 5,002,114). The joint and hinges provide no gaps large enough to trap fingers inside and outside.
Hormann
garage doors feature maximum safety devices: the cables are
designed to carry five times the required load and are guided
between the door leaf and the track with no protruding parts.
The Hormann garage door cannot drop down, even in the unlikely
event of any failure of cable or spring.
The specially developed Hormann anti-drop device is safe and secure as it prevents the door from crashing down.
Heavy Duty Steel Tracks StandardHeavy duty steel tracks (approx. 13 gauge) are standard with Hormann garage doors.
